💪The culture memo: “positive and constructive feedback is part of everyday life—not only an annual event. Meaningful feedback can be hard to give or accept. But like any new habit, it gets easier with practice. So we help people learn to give and receive feedback through coaching and modeling the behaviors we want to see across the company.” 🤷♂️The actual feedback after spending ~10 hours interviewing: #netflix
this is much more feedback than what any other tech company would offer
I received a very detailed and informative feedback from Facebook when I interviewed 4 years ago. It doesn’t cost anything from recruiter and it’s helpful for the interviewee.
@roku, in many cases, it's not on the recruiter. It's often against company policy for the recruiter to share feedback
There’s a huge difference between giving feedback to internal vs external folks - I don’t think Netflix’s culture memo reasonably applies to candidates outside the company
Clearly
It means the current cost is everybody's time. Better to not hire when there is doubt than make a bad hiring decision. Giving more details opens them up to more liability. So there's no reason to provide a candidate with more ammo.
what role was it for/how long did they take to get back to you?
Personally speaking, that is much better than I have seen from other tech companies who hesitate to even divulge the basic reasons for rejection. Secondly, Netflix is great with prompt and real-time feedback. Maybe not over written email, but I have had them provide real-time actionable feedback to help prepare for the next round of the interview. Feedback, IMO is a two way street. You have to express strong interest in seeking feedback inorder to get some.
The screenshot is the answer from me asking if I could get some feedback on what didn’t go well.
Understood, but companies (as far as I know all of them) will not give you detailed written feedback due to legal reasons. Verbal feedback if you ask, will be provided but Recruiter will not know much. Better to ask from the HM. Anyways, I understand not all interview situations are identical (point in case, where I had received zero feedback when I interviewed with FB). Best of luck with future interviews. Fingers crossed, next time it's a positive response so negates the need to ask for feedback entirely :)
I mean that is pretty clear feedback.
They refer to feedback at work though, across the company, not during interviews..be grateful you got a response after asking, they could have very well ignored your request as every other company does.
I'd say this is constructive and concise enough. What other details were you expecting? Like in which round and on which question you effed up, comparing how your answers were short of adequate answer with a few examples of good answers?
LOL same experience here. Hiring manager screen, technical screen, onsite, post onsite VP call, rejection. Reason was “didn’t show enough interest in any specific focus areas.”
