Feeling bad :(

I'm waiting for my H1B transfer and leaving for Apple soon. However my manager at Microsoft is planning for projects thinking I'm going to stick around. Can't reveal I'm leaving while at the same time I feel bad for ditching them knowingly. How do I handle this situation? Apple TC : 285k current TC : 195k YOE : 2.5

Don’t get attached too much

Don’t worry they account for attrition

Don’t feel bad , it’s corporate world , just be honest and appreciative to your manager when you leave and be honest that your departure has nothing to do with culture or him and it’s just monetary. 1.5X TC is stupid to refuse. Most likely he can’t counter such offer so you should be good. FYI I am people manager , I would feel great if my folks wants to move on and if I can’t match their market value.

Business is business, to make yourself feel better, you can allocate more time on project hand-off once visa transfer is completed.

Don’t reveal shit. They wouldn’t reveal anything to you even if they knew they were going to lay you off in 1 month, even if you just bought a house thinking your job is fine.

Just watch how they distance themselves from you once you tell them, lol

Just think: when the company lays you off they won’t give a crap about your loyalty

What’s company? This guy is worrying about his good (personal kinda?) relationship with the manager and the team. Company can be crap but your manager and the peers will be the best and this can be hard
