The team has lots of deliverables. Although the leadership always says not to overwork. Given the sprint works we have, it's hard not to overwork. I'm feeling very burnt out and lacking real motivation to keep working. I should have done LC and GTFO long ago. But I missed that train. Now things like hiring freeze and everything, it feels scary to leave. Feeling very hopeless and trapped. TC: 🥜🥜 YoE: 5 #engineering #software
Hi, I'm also a fellow burnt out engineer too
Yup.
yeah
Take LOA if you're diagnosed with depression.
Who defines the sprint backlog and timeline? Usually there's opportunity to do better cost estimation and avoid unrealistic work load. Secondly, are you sure work load was the primary reason for your burnout? From my own experience, every single time I felt burnout it was because of a misalignment between my work and my interest, not the load. I was the happiest during some of the busiest days. It's worth digging into how much you truly enjoy the work assuming load is reduced to a normal level.

With 5 yoe at Amazon the hiring freeze shouldn’t affect you that much. Just get out there and start interviewing I guess
