4 months into my new job and I have yet to attend/get invited to a single meeting with my immediate team due primarily to time zone differences (I assume). Most of the team meetings run between 12 midnight- 3 am my time. I’ve asked if they can record them so I can at least understand what they’re talking about in Slack and can catch up with with critical stuff. As a result, I feel left out due to lack of information. I don’t get included in most emails either. Since I started, I’ve made the effort to connect with my teammates virtually by doing very early morning calls or late evenings so I can catch them during their working hours. I do this several times a week and as a result, I’m starting to burn out. I have a toddler and it’s been really tough juggling work and family. Feeling isolated, lost and mentally drained. Onboarding hasn’t been great and I don’t feel set up for success. Any advice? #burnout #mentalhealth TC: 160k YOE: 5
Software job == switch until you are happy.
Ask to travel to where the team is and spend 1 week huddling with thr team. Do it one week every quarter if you are IC OR once a month if you are a amanager
I’m currently in this exact situation. It’s hard. People are also not willing to help. I’m already leetcoding and looking for an internal switch to another team
I am in the same situation as you. This timezone difference is difficult to handle. I quit as got another job with little effort as was already prepared 4 months back.
How long after joining yur company did you quit
In 4th month. It is leading to some loss on RSUs vesting aslo though. But next company is covering it. Did not received any increment on current comp though. 😕 May be already on higher side
