Currently data engineer with 3.6 years of experience. Currently working on airflow, python, sql, azure, snowflake Current TC is 115k 🥲. How can I at least go to 250k TC. I have a computer science degree.
Lc lc lc lc
Its doable in HCOL areas with FANG or fang adjecent, not doable with that yoe in LCOL
I have masters degree in computer science and my TC is 🥜. How can I go from 🥜 to more 🥜 🥜 🥜🥜🥜?
Ultimately, you’ll want to get into big tech, but to prepare now, aside from lc, you should try to take on some leadership responsibilities in your current job as this will help during interviews. Especially as you move into senior territory over the next few years, interviewers will want to hear stories about how took initiative, led projects, and had an impact. Look at some senior software engineer job postings at big tech companies and try to get the experience you need where you are.
Everyone here is saying to LC, but is that still applicable for a Data Engineering role? I really don’t know
Well the technology they know is fairly general so they could pivot into other roles if the goal is just high TC
Dude everyone has CS degree
Don’t be discouraged, continue to work on building up skills and knowledge and move on to interview in other companies that pay more or get promoted in your current role if possible.
Go to FAANG or similar big-name tech company, or finance. No-name companies won’t pay the big bucks.
Not to throw rocks but hard part is there’s more SWEs than FAANG roles available I think and OP wants what 20 million other folks want :( how does one compete
By finance he means fintech or hedge funds btw. Banks and money managers pay average or below average.
