I have a 401k fidelity account from an old employer where the money is invested in target fund which is not doing well. If I exchange investment (sell the current one and buy a different one) do I need to pay taxes?
As long as it’s in the 401k (or a rollover acc which is pretax) you are fine. You can transact without tax issues.
Which Target dated fund? Aren't target dated funds like for super long term? How long are you calculating the returns for? I just thought it was a set and forget it sorta thing. Are you telling me, I am supposed to be actively tracking this?
Sell and VTI 🤪
