I recently received a new grad offer from fidelity. I am still actively looking for better new grad positions, but even getting an interview from a decent tech company seems difficult especially during this market. I have had two internships one including at meta, but I am having so much trouble landing interview from big tech companies. My parents want me to start in January with fidelity, saying that the economic situation will likely get worse and that even fidelity might revoke my offer. I was thinking situations could get better early next year and more companies would start hiring new grad. Should I start in January like my parents say or start in June and look for more new grad positions in the mean time? Any inputs would be appreciated New TC:100k Yoe:0yrs Location:Dallas
The economy is not getting better. Start sooner with fidelity and keep looking then quit/renege if you get a better offer. Have you applied to amazon?
I have but no news from them. I even heard they are reducing or not hiring for many orgs except for aws and a few orgs
What would have even been the point in applying if you wouldn’t take this job as your only offer? You are already having trouble finding a job, so waiting till July is foolish. Accept fidelity and continue applying if you want to work somewhere else. I understand that fidelity may no be your “dream job”, but it is way better for your resume and your bank account than being unemployed for 6+ months
Jesus an ex-meta is getting fidelity. We are screwed…
Yo that’s wild I just read that meta internship part lol … but tbh fidelity isn’t the worst there r worse places u could end up
I mean not really…
Start sooner and leave after a year once things improve, good luck man
Are the relocation and sign-on bonuses pre tax or post tax? My recruiter mentioned how I only have to go to office 3days a month and that I could stay in my current state and fly to west lake Texas to go to office every month if I wanted to save money on rent(my current lease doesn’t end until July)Is this feasible?
Post tax It's feasible I have a teammate who lives 3 hrs from the office in Texas but I think he just works fully remotely. There is a program that allows you to fly to other offices i don't know much about it I'm in driving distance to the office. I go in 2 to 3 times a month
Any exp is better than no exp any job better than no job just accept fid and keep LCing till something better
My concern is my current lease with the apartment doesn’t end until July. I am worried about paying two rents at the same time 🥲
Just pay fine and break lease… that’s 6 months of work experience you’d lose out on and remember ur resume gets less competitive the more time u spend jobless after finishing school. no one rlly cares what ur first job is after college just LC and get that initial exp
