Oddly not sad about it. After almost 4 years I’ve given a lot to Amazon, and it felt like a relief in many ways to be free of it. I started my own business, and trying things my own way. Best of luck to all of you still in Amazon, just know it does get better and sometimes opportunity is somewhere you haven’t considered or looked. :) can be hard to see your worth when in a constant shit show.
They can fire for attendance?? Is there a severance??
No severance. They will fire for attendance.
Guess this is just starting now as all the legal paperwork, that takes ages, is in place. Only real consequence was denied promotions before. Sad that we’ve come to firing due to no RTO… I delivered my most impactful work fully remote, but guess that doesn’t matter at all.
Best of luck to you, OP! I wish I would have at least tried to start my own business decades ago. The best thing that happens is you succeed, the worst is you go back to tech at some point.
Fired ? For what reason?
They cut my pay and told me to RTO. I told them especially with reduced pay I could not/would not, and so as expected I got hit with attendance related firing. I expected it, but honestly I felt it important to make a point that I’m not paying money out of pocket to commute on less pay.
Thanks for insight , so they can fire based on attendance.. I thought it is not legally allowed
