I recently started job search and am targeting on west coast tech firms. But I got many inquiries from East coast financial firms. From glass door, the TC of finance firms (usually capped around 200k for senior developers, but in cash) are not comparable with FAANG. Are developer roles' TC in finance firms really competitive as FAANG? Are there sweet spots? How to make the most out of finance firm? Becoming a Quant? Studying financial modeling?
Glassdoor is not accurate at all for finance. The companies are much smaller than FAANG, so the TC is not as set in stone and really depends on how profitable the company is and how important you are to them.
front office role: quant at hedge fund, or developer at HFT
