Modi is a legend, will be remembered for centuries to come
How did you do it? It seems like most people find a person or group of people they know that have a problem with X. Which they try to solve by first targeting their small group/niche. But I'm drawing up a blank in my search for problems that are solvable with code that: 1) hasn't been done in some form already even for smaller niches and 2) has an existing market which indicates people actually have this problem. Do you just go for it even if the market has a decent number of competitors? I could imagine creating extra features or a nicer UI but it's certainly not 10x better, maybe 1.1x better.
IMO it’s because you’re looking at it from a monetization perspective. Look at it from a hobby/interest perspective and follow that first.
I will give it a try, thanks!
A lot of the time you don’t want to be the first one to solve a problem, changing that perspective into a positive one will help a lot. I would suggest practicing creativity. Here is an example of an exercise, I need to close a door. How should I do it? Start writing all the ways to close a door, then out of those ides build news ones and amplify them. The answers don’t have to make logical sense as long as the goal is accomplished. For example, I would close a door by throwing an object at it OR using my supper lungs to push it shut. Have fun with it and think about other small task after the door exercises
Have you ever used one of those solutions and found it clunky and hard to use? Especially something you use daily and understand the space intimately? That's your product.
What you need to do is find a idea/business cofounder with a decent business idea. The tech person is like a paint maker, he can make any color paint he wants and sells them to artist, but can't make his own art. The creative/idea guy is the artist that can take that paint and turn it into a work of art, but can't make the paint himself. Find your artist and be his paint maker. There's a reason why almost all start ups have at least 2 or more Founders
Get a load of this "big picture guy" with an "app idea" that somehow has a shit ton of data no one would reasonably have a way of getting
@meta Yeah it's a real shame nothing has ever been created without "a shit ton of data"
better mouse trap works but it's lame unless you have a very cleaver angle. Anyway, if you want to find smart ideas, you need to get out there and try new things and understand market dynamics and spot new trends. Do you need a new idea? look into Supply chain industry.
I got one for you, solve P=NP
I giggled
My problem is finding how to execute once a problem is found. I don't have skill set to create the entire product by myself. Without a prototype, will be impossible to proceed. How are the startups working without a product that they can sell yet? Am new to the start up idea..exploring
They don't, you have to validate the idea and then put your head down and build at least an mvp
I also struggle with this. Every problem people have I can point them to an existing solution and say "use that". Their problem is usually that they don't know how to use that, and so the only thing I can think of is to charge them to do it for them. But I could never come up with an Elasticsearch on my own unless I had a specific problem I was working on at a company and essentially built it in house and decided to spin off a company to do that one thing exclusively. But at that point I'd be so invested in building that thing at the company I would have no reason to spin it off
I think there is another way to look at it… you had Alta Vista and MySpace and people could “use that” but instead they made Goog and FB some of the most profitable companies ever
Yeah but what I'm saying is if I'm on the ground level of something like that I am completely fulfilled. Here I am playing with stupid Legos someone else built and it's not fun or interesting
