My wife is looking for a job after a gap of 8 years.. She had 6.5 years of experiences in software industry as a Quality Assurance.. As she is trying after a gap, She didn’t get any calls from companies and also companies dropping off due to gap in career. Only call we are getting from consultancy companies where we have to be in 1 year contract and pay 15% of salaries .. Is it worth to go through consultancy companies? Any trustable consultancy company if you know, pls let me know..Thank you! #tech
If she can afford, she can join a boot camp (if she’s interested in coding instead). That may open up new opportunities. Consultancy for a year at a lower salary is better than no job. As you might have read other Blinders complain about, it’s a route to getting a faster H1 or FTE jobs in FAANG. I don’t know how to identify a trustworthy consultancy and what’s your definition of it. I guess if they have large public companies as direct clients they probably have strong legal and financial status. Consultancies also have to find projects for your wife and they will hit the same problem. That’s when some consultancies will ask to pad with fake experience. Don’t fall under pressure and keep trying with OG resume and maybe get some certifications, some MOOCs and hopefully will land a project. A third alternative is to study a full course such as MS. It’s not cheap but good chance of bagging a top notch role.
Thank you for your input 👍..
FWIW, I know a woman who left a SWE job to raise her child for roughly six years until the child started school. She was able to get back in with her former employer by taking a job in SW test, and then moving internally after a while. If your wife still has friends or contacts at her old firm, and going back there is an option, you might want to start there.

Some companies have returnship programs for people looking to get back into the workforce. She can try for one of those.
Sure, will do .. Thank you!
