I'm a new grad SDE at one of the Crypto Fintech companies(Coinbase, Robinhood, Gemini) in the bay area. While my passion is in Crypto and trading, the work I'm doing right now is mostly core services infrastructure and DevOps. I was recently offered to join one of the big HFT firms(Citadel, Jane St, Virtu, HRT, DRW, etc) as a Crypto Trader, should I leave the current firm given that I'm only been here for a month? I'm also worried that the new role would be similar to DevOps since all the strategies are highly automated, and all I need to do is monitoring. Would the macroeconomy affect those HFT firms? The comp is slightly higher than the current position. Current TC: 200k YoE: 0
Congrats on gemini and virtu
I didn't include sign-on so don't rule out the others yet :)
I don’t think it’s Gemini …
Can I message you? Looking for a similar job as a trader and would appreciate some help!
Sure
If you want to trade, move. If you don’t like the style or strategy, it’s easier to move with a trading title than it will be as an SWE.
I think what you want is this job at HRT: new grad working on blockchain clearing $628k/year. FML
I heard about insane packages from HRT, but none of them are verified tho
Over time if you do well, your comp as a trader will be in several multiples as compared to tech comp . Life will be hard tho
Life is already hard lol. I'm working 40+ hours right now.
Did you just say 40 hours a week was hard? You’re not cut out to trade/work in finance if you think that’s hard. I’m assuming that’s a typo?
