I’ve been following conversations about people wanting to fire all of the American, Oceania, and European employees to hire people in less expensive locations. Why is it that the proponents of these plans never think to replace themselves the same way? #Layoffs #ey
Why do you act surprised, it has been happening for last 30+ years. The naive part is about hiring in less expensive locations, unless the job is repetitive and well defined it is hard to hire anywhere
This. Monotonous/repetitive work is outsourced overseas: mfg, customer support
the question is too generic for a comprehensive answer but the truth is that if there is the opportunity to outsource jobs without impacting quality this is going to happen. What a lot of corporations are learning is that there are hidden costs to outsourcing, people with great skills cost a lot even overseas and most importantly that they “get a donkey when they asked for a horse”. Unless you have a really well defined process and know exactly what you want you will get questionable results (part cultural, part communication, part lack of skills). If you have the process defined there is always the risk that it will get copied (hello 🇨🇳 and lack of IP enforcement). I would also argue that if you’re in this case automation is probably what you want.
