Graduated with his BS in '03 after interning at Sun and started working at Microsoft as a PM. His startup journey started when he turned down an offer to be a super early employee (co-founder?) of Palantir (after Peter Thiel even wrote him a $72k check, which was his then L59 salary at Microsoft) before later joining as employee 10. That mistake cost him $200M in his estimation (probably more if he held his stock considering how PLTR is doing). He also regrettably turned down an interview with Google in 2004, back when he says it wasn't clear that they'd go on to become very profitable, let alone a trillion dollar company. For some reason his story resonated with me because I watched some of his YC tutorial/lecture videos on product design recently but never realized he was such a bigwig let alone on the verge of becoming a billionaire. He's now a VC on Forbes Midas list top 100 VC at a $700M VC firm invested in Reddit and Instacart and a few other less known startups you'll recognize. Super humble and nice guy, you can hear his story from him on his YouTube channel. Age: 21 TC: $43.25/hr + $500/wk stipend (intern)
Yeah recently discovered his youtube channel..Really humble guy. Some other youtubers like Techlead should learn a thing or two from such people.
Tbf, tech lead also has a shtick for comedic purposes but yes, I agree with you. His net worth is probably comparable to Andreessen and Horowitz but you'd never guess. I like A and H but this guy has 0 sense of pretentiousness or pride in the air around him.
Burmese pride
He’s on clubhouse very often.
Good for him, I'm glad at least some billionaires are not abject assholes
