https://www.usatoday.com/story/opinion/columnist/2024/04/02/florida-abortion-ban-impact-2024-election-biden-trump/73172510007/ Florida Supreme court ruled that DeSantis' crazy 6 week abortion laws can go into effect, but that referendum to enshrine abortion rights is going to the November ballot. So this election in Florida will be a referendum on abortion, which is a 60%-40% issue in Florida. This means that Republicans will at the very least need to spend a lot of money in expensive Florida media markets and abortion will be in the news this election cycle 👍
Ugh, can I please be a Republican without this abortion BS every election year? I do not care about abortion, stop trying to please the extremely old Republicans at the stake of risking your younger fanbase.
How does it feel to empower white Christian Nationalists just to save a few extra % in taxes?
Pretty good, since white Christian’s organized basically every desirable country you want to live in.
Florida is most definitely not in play. Come November, Florida will be like 60 in favor of abortion and 55 in favor of Trump. It is not a swing state anymore(like Ohio, Iowa). No democrat won the gubernatorial race since about 26+ years. Bill Nelson lost the senate seat as an incumbent during a wave year (2018). Trump increased his margin compared to 2016. The lynchpin of Democratic support in Florida has always been Hispanic community, which has trended away from democrats because Hispanic community in Florida is mix of 1st generation immigrants from Venezuela, Cuba, etc, and they would vote for a dead zombie if their opponent even says the word socialism. GOP Florida has a good get out the vote operation, including a historically very competent mail in vote operation, and has also successfully branded democrats as socialists in waiting, which scares away 1st generation Hispanic immigrants. So... Blue Florida is not happening. Not anytime soon unless coalitions change. By my estimates, we would likely see blue Texas before we see blue Florida anytime soon at the federal level.
This is good insight, but you’re not accounting for disgruntled Destantis supporters who had to listen to trump make fun of their man for months straight. A number of Destantis staffers went rogue on twitter and began creating campaigns in support of RFK/writing in Destantis during the primaries. If there are enough pissed off Floridian Destantis supporters, Florida may very well be in play.
Most DeSantis voters are going to vote for Trump come 2024 because of negative partisanship. Staffers, campaign operatives conduct during primaries don't matter much because they will all eventually rally around the main nominee. This happens during every election cycle. Florida, due to a combination of incoming retirees and GOP trending Hispanic community, is off the plate for democrats. If I were Biden campaign/dems, I would spend that money on stretch targets like Texas, which will pay dividends in upcoming election cycles in the decade. Demographically, due to the burgeoning suburban population, Texas will become a ripe target very, very soon. 2024 will be decided by Arizona, Georgia, and the Midwestern blue wall. Dems should keep dumping shit load of money in these 5 states. I can't fathom the thought of an incompetent, rapey insurrectionist under 91 indictments being anywhere near the oval office. Dude is incapable of getting shit done.
Imagine getting amped up about killing babies. Go to hell, OP
Republicans should run on calling women baby killers 👍
Imagine thinking abortion is murder. Yikes.
Why are yall so obsessed with killing unborn babies ? Birth control and focus on issues actually making this country shitty for the average person, like regulatory capture. The voters will find some middle ground law of 12-15 weeks
Republicans, please run on this message. Just tell women birth control is enough for you. 🙏
You’re a psycho. Most people just want a normal limit like 12-15 weeks, aka all of Europe
funny how some men here talking about abortions. oh wait, are they men? they can't tell difference between men and women.
If a rapist can run for presidency, anything can happen.
Last election Florida had $15 minimum wage on the ballot. Trump and minimum wage won it.
yeah, abortion was an issue for me too until I saw what the democrats are doing... Biden / Harris are for US what Caligula was for the roman empire. Democrats have abortion and so-called racism as a one trick pony, but nobody struggling with their bills cares at this point.
Wait... when was abortion an issue for you, and when did you see 'democrats' perform Caligula? Dates and year may be? US had high unemployment, and blue collar was struggling by the end of the Trump regime. Biden bought our economy back, gained 15 million jobs, and blue collar is doing better than ever. Biden passed a shit load of legislation and got stuff done. Meanwhile, GOP and Trump indulged in electoral fraud, insurrection and espionage scandals.
US had high unemployment, and blue collar was struggling by the end of the Trump regime. Why do you want to skip context that it was due to a pandemic and lockdowns? If you compare with pre pandemic USA todays economy is comparable but with less deficits
Giving births to unplanned children is just what Florida needs to make their next national news headline.
"Sorry we couldn't have had you killed" - you to kids who didn't get aborted
Big deal don’t have sex if you don’t want to risk having kids. Obvious exceptions are rape, medical etc. Also it is some demographics that are disproportionately high in abortion. Why do they have so much trouble not getting pregnant if they don’t want kids?
Completely support Republicans running on this message 👍
As a hard leaning conservative and pro trumpster. Republicans are taking advantage of the RvW ruling and being massive pricks with the autonomy, to pander to their ultra-old voter base.
In recent polling, more than half of women in the US are in favor of restrictions on abortion. The numbers for men are even higher, since men tend to skew more conservative. Leave the tech bubbles and you won’t see women crying over this at all.
I don’t think i believe that. Can you produce a source and what the age groups are? I can’t see many people under 40 even caring about the issue honestly.
