One of the Friend at my University started working at Google as a Food Program Manager and when I checked the average salary I am bummed 😒!! Software Engineering is a slavery 😌 TC: 200k #softwareengineer #tech
Walmart store manager makes 250k
But how long does it take to get to store manager position? SWE can start making money pretty fast but I guess Walmart store managers are recession proof jobs.
I find this hard to believe tbh. Is this just in HCOL area? Internet seems to think the avg manager salary is about 95k, which seems a lot more believable.
Well, instead of comparing yourself with others and playing your violin, you could just LC, improve your skills and get a higher paying job?
Or go to culinary school.
Tbh I make $200k and am homeless too, some day we’ll all make it
Pretty sure slave’s TC was considerably less than 200K. Tone deaf and ungrateful comment.
Really not an apt or appropriate comparison.
Never understood why seeing other people succeed in their field would make someone sad. At best it should make you feel happy for them, and at worst motivate you to achieve more. Isn’t that the best mindset?
Then get a job at FAANG and you’ll get paid double a Food Manager.
Not sure why you think SWE is superior to Food PM. His mistakes can cause stomach upset 😭 to all employees in a building unlike SWE.
Paid more != superior. It’s simply a function of your revenue generation and replaceability. A basketball player isn’t greater than a doctor or even a SWE, but gets paid far more.
What’s a food manager? Operator of a campus cafeteria?
They create a product roadmap for the food and maintain the backlog of produce in the walk-in cooler.
Standup in that team sounds funner than mine.
In the end they're a program manager. Regardless of the subject you need strong organizational and programmatic skills. Every role has skills that are in high demand right now tbh. If you think you can be a program manager, do it. You're (probably) good at what you do but you might suck at being a PM.
You make 200k. You’re fine.
