I just joined the TDP program in January. Honestly AT&T wasn't my 1st choice but I had to take it due to the terrible job market. 1. My eventual goal is to get into a big tech company such as Google, Meta, Apple, etc. How good does AT&T look on my resume to recruiters? Do recruiters from big tech look down on AT&T on your resume? 2. How many people from AT&T eventually move on to big tech companies (percentage wise)? If you know someone who has, can you share their experience and how they were able to make the most of it here? 3. How much can I really develop and learn here? I'm noticing that there are A LOT of incompetent people here from top to bottom. Honestly the sudden forced relocation to one of the 4 hubs is super concerning. On top of that everything seems disorganized and chaotic here #att #tech #bigtech #apple #FAANG #meta #facebook #google #recruiters #recentgrad #entrylevel
I agree with scrafty. I’m currently in tdp as a data analyst (started as a software engineer). Things have definitely gotten chaotic in the past month bc of the hub announcement. I’ve seen coworkers move to Amazon and fintech. They were top performers and used tdp as the stepping stone it should be. You have to advocate to get on a good project and network with the right people. It’s easy to get stuck at a dead end role with little work to do and no future potential.

What income is enough for you?
Are you in one of the hubs? Are you a SWE ? It depends on your role. But I interviewed at big tech companies last year. It’s doable. I did 2 rounds with Google and got to a team matching round after I joined my current employer. I’m a manager. I was with T for a bit. It’s doable but know what to expect and since the market in tech has gone cold my recommendation for now is to learn all you can there and keep an eye out for opportunities. It is certainly not some place I would consider staying for more than a couple of years.
