Ford Layoffs

Things are getting downhill. Thanks to FED for overheating economy and now pulling the rug under our feet https://www.reuters.com/business/autos-transportation/ford-cut-8000-jobs-bloomberg-news-2022-07-20/ TC: 260k YOE: 6

Why? Car demand has been high but I think itā€™s because production is slow/halted due to chip shortage or whatever?

Qualtrics merkava Jul 20, 2022

So much for Biden backing unions lol

The Trade Desk adsadsads Jul 20, 2022

The remaining jobs will be union. Just typical completely clueless policy from the interns running the Biden administration.

Ford has more employees than people in my city + the next city over combined

Capital One mcree Jul 20, 2022

It's not exactly the Fed's fault, OP. If you read your own article, you'd see that it's a result of Biden ramrodding his progressive green energy agenda onto manufacturers and American consumers. In order to fund more EV vehicles (which most consumers already can't afford to purchase and that are taking massive losses), they're laying off thousands of workers.

LinkedIn BsrG12 Jul 20, 2022

Which Ford electric vehicles are they selling at massive losses since consumers can't afford it? And what % of their sales do these Ford EV vehicles account for?

Capital One mcree Jul 20, 2022

Mustang Mach-E. Look LinkedIn, I don't work at Ford. If you evidence, here's a post I made on /politics with a screenshot that directly references the statement. https://www.teamblind.com/post/Bidens-regressive-economic-agenda-keeps-getting-worse-Wbia7rqv

"To deliver our Ford+ transformation and lead this exciting and disruptive new era of electric and connected vehicles, we remain focused on reshaping our work and modernizing our organization across all automotive business units and across the company," Ford spokesman T.R. Reid said in a statement. They're slowing IC engine manufacturing clearly getting ready to kick ass in the EV industry.. why you mad? And then blaming people? How is your argument valid rn? And why is politics always a reason to blame...? Ford did great things maybe it's time to reclaim that title..?? I mean why not upskill or something

Capital One mcree Jul 20, 2022

Maybe because thousands of people are losing their jobs and their livelihoods to make room for a political stance?

Canoo Canoob Jul 20, 2022

@mcree I partially agree with you, Ford will be cruel if they don't try to get those guys in another group or reskill them But to say that you lose job because of political stance is dumb I'm not trying to be insensitive here, people's lives are at stake but do you really think that these people would have a future in 10 years.... the hurt would have come, now or later, it's on Ford as well this blame In EU unions went to fight with Bosch over layoffs in ICE and they came to an agreed over reskilling instead

ASML vlqu47 Jul 20, 2022

I think this is actually really really bad news unlike startup layoffs? For the us economy that is
