Yep they have

Amazon curiousaf May 9, 2022

Partially true Partially false I don't think all women had to work double hard. Consider Indira Nooyi vs Ariana Huffington vs Kim K, some of them don't need to work as hard

Amazon jWjS73 May 9, 2022

Hard is itself relative so shouldn’t they be compared to men of similar privileges

Amazon jWjS73 May 9, 2022

I was reading a retweet by one of female professors where she pointed out how his advisor commented on the way she dresses to conference and advised her to dress a certain way to ensure success, we men don’t have to think about that

Google borgmaster May 9, 2022

That is pretty annoying for sure

Shopify chaidgb May 9, 2022

Men have to think about that too

Ford Motor Company Dr. J May 9, 2022

Not really lol, most get there because of diversity quotas so worked half for double the reward

Google borgmaster May 9, 2022

Yes, I’m sure there’s diversity quotas at the CEO level and that’s why we see 50% female CEOs, right?

Ford Motor Company Dr. J May 9, 2022

Company wide and varies by level. CEO and board positions are generally excluded from quotas.

Amazon tldG64 May 9, 2022

I mean we all know that isn't completely true. But it would be bad for feminism if she had said otherwise. Just for the record I have nothing against what she said and wish them more power.

Ford Motor Company Dr. J May 9, 2022

Why do people deserve more power just because of their gender?

Amazon jWjS73 May 9, 2022

Why do people have more power because of their gender , a male has more power and agency than a female for same social strata

For job interviews, women get easier than men. But for promotion, men get easier. That's my experience. Would like to see large sample size or stats

Define hard, like how 1. leaning in hard into nerd pool like Sheryl Sandberg. 2. Be the gossip queen of tech and call yourself a “journalist” like Kara Swisher 3. Ingratiating yourself and dating a dating app founder, suing for harassment then tweak/steal the idea to create a sexist dating app and then marrying a rich oil heir like Whitney Wolfe 4. Fake it till you make it like Elizabeth Holmes 5. Start a dumpster fire and abandon ship like Carly Fiorina Or like Meg Whitman ?

MongoDB TcwY80 May 9, 2022

Didn't even mention Marissa Mayer.

Macquarie JNSF6 May 10, 2022

Sheryl Sandberg won the economics medal at Harvard and worked for Larry Summers. She has genuine nerd cred.

Google nfQB22 May 9, 2022

Your are a sexist if you disagree. 😁😁

Macquarie JNSF6 May 10, 2022

There's a lot of extra stress yeah. If you are interviewing for director/VP/C suite roles at companies: - Your boss will be a white man. - The other 9 candidates will be white men. So to get hired, you gotta convince a white man not to hire one of the other 9 white men he's scheduled face to face interviews with. Being a woman in corporate leadership is definitely tough because you're a huge outlier. And in the startup world it gets harder. The only industry that's whiter and maler than venture capital is Catholicism.

Amazon GitBuff May 10, 2022

If they were hired before all diversity quota thing, it would have been a lot harder for them to climb the ladder. Not the case for women now-a-days. Though I am a male, if I am aiming let's say L6 is next 2 years, I definitely look for *men* who have achieved something like this - it helps me ascertain whether it's an achievable goal or not. I feel earlier there weren't many women in power, so that motivation was much harder to get if you were a woman. Just my opinion though, some people are stronger and have higher drive for power, they'll just power through no matter whether something similar has been achieved before or not.
