apple learns a hard lesson, no $2.40 for their business https://fortune.com/2022/11/30/elon-musk-twitter-blue-delay-apple-app-store-fee-tax/
Why are the two things related?
Article is behind a paywall but I'm guessing Elon doesn't want to pay the 30% for in-app purchases (twitter blue sub) which is $2.40 per month per subscribed user
Oh no, now they won’t be getting the revenue they already weren’t getting 😳 how will Apple cope?
Don’t exaggerate. I bet they’re losing $500k in revenue with this move. Not sure how $AAPL can recover. That’s more than my TC.
Only 140,000 people signed up for Twitter Blue. That’s only 336k to Apple. I doubt that’s going to hurt their bottom line.
Paywall.
Will he make a similar change to reduce FSD charges?
Does xfinity charge you for downloading FSD build?
Among other things, yes. Why do you expect Apple to provide services for free.
Lol you know Apple is not losing anything right? They took FB down, you think they will care about this db
Hope they lose all companies with more than $1m in revenue per year from the app store
Same with Google
If anyone thinks Apple is losing sleep over this is sadly mistaken. Their business model has been around for a very long time.
So twitter will not launch a broken feature to spite a platform provider that pixels next to an user name are not colored and loses that money they were not getting. Well, kinda late Elon. Apple is doing it since 2008. Bur I understand, before it wasn't about YOUR money.
What lesson? Oh no an insignificant amount of money gone. Money that probably is worth our advertising partners know we’re not gonna let anyone mess up.
Sounds like he’s unable to get the feature fully functional and validated. Just like what everyone with actual experience in this field predicted. What a great spin though. It’s not his fuckup. It’s that he’s taking a stand against the big guy! People slurp that shit right up. It clearly doesn’t even make sense, but that doesn’t matter to his followers. He’s going to lose what he planned would be 90% of his revenue just to take what, something like a potential 0.01% of Apple’s that they never even had?
Also I like how everyone is forgetting when Apple literally deleted Fortnite and nothing happened after that. Sucks to suck is what I'd say
Apple deserves a lesson I just wish it didn't come from Musk
What lesson, that building stuff people want gives you control over how your product is used?
Charging exorbitant percentage for every purchase --> control over how your product is used. LMFAO
