How long did your project take to monetize/fund enough for you to start paying yourself $40k/yr? Seen advice both ways. I've heard of people starting ventures with no money, but you can't really do that if you live with anyone and are expected to pay rent, utilities, etc. Especially in high cost Silicon Valley, known for its startups among other things. On the other end of the spectrum, I've seen as much as 3 years of runway recommended. That again seems unrealistic, since saving living wages for several years is out of reach for the vast majority of people (and not scrappy enough to live up to entrepreneur stereotypes 😉). Should go without saying that everything depends on your product, plan, network, and execution capabilities. Still, curious about your general experiences.
Depends on how tall you are. Taller people find success faster. Ridiculous but true.
