only an idiot would switch jobs for better snacks
I think it speaks more to the company's culture when they incentivize your time in more ways than just money.
nope. food is just decoration. you can't draw any insight into company culture.
I used to have free catered food, unlimited drinks/snacks, etc. at a previous company. It seemed great at first, but eventually it becomes whatever. I don't have any of that anymore, and I'm fine with that. I think some people overvalue that perk.
Did it negatively impact your health?
Luckily we have more healthy options than unhealthy ones. I find myself eating a larger quantity than I normally would, but healthier (fruits/veggies, salads) because it's free
the only food perk that matters is free coffee.
dropbox has those perks. its nice to not pay for overpriced things in nyc
It's nice not to have a price difference between healthy and unhealthy food
Eating in NYC is about $3k a year. You could bring your lunch from home, but you're still paying for that food. Free food *is* money.
Join mealpal if you are concerned about eating out everyday for lunch
Or I could eat the free food and not have to spend any of my own money at all...
sorry, I think it's a pretty big deal. For me it's not just getting fed for free, it's the brain power I don't have to use up when thinking about what I want to eat for lunch. Also, it's a big part of culture when 85% of the local office drops what they are doing to grab lunch and socialize.
Does oath nyc have all three meals?
Yes they are. Standard for most NYC companies in the tech/startup space. They're nice, but I'd take money in my pocket.
