Why not research scientist instead? Do you know what DS work is actually like in industry?
Network with people in DS roles. Study up on how tech interviews and roles work. Be humble and accept a relatively entry level position. Don’t think you’re above MS level folks with experience. Don’t think you’re above querying but try to find a job that isn’t all querying. Good luck!
