Been working on Scala(FP, Futures, Finagle etc.) for past 2 years after working with C/C++ for quite some time. I am not in the market now but would like to know in general what functional programming interviews are like. What do they concentrate on? I am guessing Netflix and Twitter backends use Scala heavily? Anyone interviewed there? What was it like? Do they expect you to solve regular interview questions in Scala? TC ~300k YOE 11
Doesn’t really answer your question but FYI Credit Karma is looking for good Scala devs. DM me if you want a referral.
Thanks anyway!
Twitter interviews are just like technical interviews elsewhere, we don’t expect anyone to know scala and we expect that it will take time to ramp up. Our interviewees mostly use java, I’ve only had one person interview in scala. I was really impressed bc they were really good at FP but it’s only a bonus to use scala not a requirement !
Thanks for your reply. If you are in a position to do so, I shall be thankful if you could kindly let me know how you evaluated their FP skills. Of course I don't want the questions you asked but the topics will be helpful.
Hey, TC of 300k is no problem for us
If you know Scala well
How high can your offer go?

Women, help me understand why this is inspirational
Jane Street is well known for functional programming, especially OCaML. Their interviews may be useful too.
Thanks will take a look.
