As far as I know, Amazon makes major revenues from 2 things: prime membership and AWS. All products like Prime Video are bundled into Prime Membership revenue so let’s ignore products footprint. Retail margin is thin and AWS seems to lack moat these days (Azure and GCP catching up). Given this, I think Amazon’s future looks bleak. What is the plan? I am a Amazon shareholder and wants it to do better
AWS is still way bigger in terms of adoption compared to the other two.
AWS is far bigger than GCP and still far ahead of Azure. Ads is a fast growing segment and they have a couple other big bets that will materialise over the coming years.
AWS and Ads are big… azure is doing well but gcp I no where near to catch up
Both Google and Amazon are doomed . Microsoft with azure and OpenAI to 10 trillion .
Ads and sponsored items
Ads is the second biggest revenue stream after AWS, and it's growing fast. Add to that the layoffs, slowed down hiring and cutbacks, I feel Amzn is set to do well short term. The stock may even keep growing this year. Long term: difficult to say. Ads can run out of steam soon and cut into other businesses due to poor experience, AWS has competitors and slowing growth and retail is mostly flat. But they are making big bets, so who knows what the next thing could be. Overall won't go bust and decent prospects for future. I wouldn't agree the future is bleak!
As bezos said, Amazon will fail one day. When? A decade from now or even after few more!!
Very bullish on the future of Amazon. When I look at their products/services, they have so many diverse offerings. Retail, Supply Chain/Shipping, Prime, AWS, Ads, Entertainment, Kuiper, Healthcare and self-driving. Truly touching almost every segment of the global economy. Also, with an increased focus on efficiency and reducing HC growth/Capex profits should start growing YoY. AMZN🚀🌕
The plan is enshittification. If you pay attention, you’ll see that Amazon has been pushing more ads and dark patterns within the website, Alexa, and other services like prime video. The customer is longer the the average consumer but businesses who either use amazon marketplace or push ads on the marketplace. Short term, I’m sure you’ll see some improved revenue and profit. Long term, I honestly don’t see much hope. Amazon has no vision or real leadership within the company and they seem to be expressly doing everything they can to alienate their own employees.
