Hi I am currently working at Berlin as a Senior software engineer with 100K Euro(87.5K euro base and 12.5k euro stock per year) and I received an offer from Grab Singapore G4 as following Base : 11k SGD per month Stocks : 50 k SGD for 4 years Target bonus 15% Is this a good offer or am I being low balled ? YOE : 5 The apartment crisis in Berlin is raising the rental cost quite high with salaries not increased at the same pace.
if you mean 11k SGD /month, then its a great offer
Yes my bad its 11k per month. What about stocks ? they are offering the vesting as 40%, 30%, 20% and 10% with possibility of refresher
vesting period seems good, but their stocks are not the best performing recently, which is good for you to enter at low prices
Yeah but any advice is there any scope for improvement because I see my stocks would be around 20K SGD year which is roughly the same I am getting 12.5K euro ~ 19K SGD)
What’s the cost of living in Singapore? I’m assuming the following: 1. Decent apartment 1 bedroom with modern amenities in a neighborhood that has some things to do and is well connected by the train, since I’ve heard owning a car is prohibitively expensive? 2. Eating out most days a week, doesn’t have to be a fancy, but I don’t cook a lot. 3. Spend some money Nightlife, bars , clubs, etc
I have lived in Singapore two years before and I am aware of it. I know rents in Singapore have increased significantly and so is all over cost of living. I want some insight on market salary trends and how grab offer stands in Singapore tech market :)
Its a good offer. 3 years back, a two bedroom apartment in a Singapore government housing complex 20 min from city centre costed me 1700 sgd. Not aware of prices these days. You would never need a car or a cab because the transport is really good. Food is not that expensive unless you are dining in posh areas. Travel to south east asia is dirt cheap. (200 dollar return flights to Bali)
From My Personal Experience, I would say it’s a Great Offer. Mind you, Singapore has Tax Rate of only 5%, even that can be written off. Vesting is 25% a year here at Grab. Overall, Good Offer to Go Ahead.
50k per year for stocks? For 4 years so total 200k?
The vesting is 40%, 30% , 20% and 10%.
this is a really strange vesting schedule.. did you ask for this? or they simply offered this? not aware of anyone else with such vesting
11k is a great offer, for G4. Bear in mind that the rental situation in Singapore is crazy as well. Do your research before making a move
What’s the cost of renting a 1 bedroom in a decent neighborhood. Say 15 min commute to work, and good food and nightlife?
Depends. You cAn get 2k cheapest then around 4k avg in city district
You can push for more rsu. The offered base salary is quite good
