With Ford laying off ~25% of the staff and GM’s Q2 profits plunging by 40%, is GM gonna be next? 😔 TC: $400k #severance #layoff
Dhivya Suryadevara saw it coming
Dhivya who?
And you work at GM! lol.
Inevitable
I hope they layoff all the slackers and the incompetent managers. GM is just filled with them.
Oh you mean like 80% of the people there? Source: used to work there
More like 90-95% .. nothing gets done there ever.
I was at GM during their last lay offs like 3-4 years ago. They handled it so poorly. It dragged on over 3 days in total. All day long everyone just sat at their cubes waiting to see if they get a tap on the shoulder to go have a meeting. Then some get laid off during that meeting. People just sat all day doing nothing, pretending to look at their screens. Then they came in and did it the next day... and the next day. Then managers who had been doing the tapping, some get taps on their own shoulder on the last day. If you are going to do mass layoffs, just bring everyone into a room and do it at once, god damn.
Very cruel. GM doesn’t care about it’s employees. All that matters for them is to fill the pockets of the top management who are good for nothing. I hope this time around they actually clean up the top level and send the incompetent higher ups home.
I’d disagree. People knew for months that layoffs were coming and had time to prepare and potentially line something up as a safety. These other companies these days give zero heads up and just lock you out. I’d rather know then not
It was mentioned in q2 earnings that there are no plans for layoffs
GM and Stellantis will be next. Just because you don't hear about it in the news doesn't mean it's not brewing in the executive meetings.
GM already did a large round of layoffs in 2019 to fund their EV positions. Ford is just now starting to do the same.
GM already cut a lot of jobs back in 2019 to prep for the EV transition. I think we're in a much better position than Ford because of it.
And then they hired 10 times more. They don’t have enough room in their Austin office for their entire Austin staff. Lol. Most developers on my team are sitting idle for the last year with nothing to do. I don’t think it is sustainable at all. Layoffs are sure to come.
Lol and then the business teams are told we don't have the resources to get anything done
Does age or experience matter with these kind of layoffs when it comes to GM or Ford?
I hope they don’t consider that. Because usually the slackers and the low performers are the ones who have been there the longest. But again, when it comes to paying a severance GM would take that into account and these slackers will be the ones to stay.
Ford won't to full laying off mode 😂😂, they will make internal job fair, retirement proposals and so on. Then lay off will come probably would take about a year to go full mode 😅
Are you stupid
Is how they did the last time 😂😂😂 Just Ford been Ford

Mary Barra mentioned not thinking about layoffs on the earnings call.
When they say don’t worry about it that means they are coming
