Anyone do fasting diets?

I have been doing fasting diets (3 straight days fast / 4 days eat) for almost a year and I feel like my health is better than ever. Lost enough weight just in time for the summer. You can still drink water (0 cals), dark coffee (0 clas), supplements/vitamins. You just need to be discplined

Yeah at the start, it was hard. So I had at least 2 eggs a day for 3 days/week.

Is this actually healthy to do? Don’t you feel low on energy in those three days? Not eating also causes a loss in appeitite right?

Yeah no way that's healthy. I heard of a full day fast but not 3 days straight. I would pass out

If I do alternate days, then in some week, I wont be able to eat on Friday/Saturday/Sunday . Id rather fast on weekdays and enjoy weekend meals. There is both benefit/side effects according to mayo clinic : "Some research suggests that intermittent fasting may be more beneficial than other diets for reducing inflammation and improving conditions associated with inflammation, such as: Alzheimer's disease Arthritis Asthma Multiple sclerosis Stroke It's important to note that intermittent fasting can have unpleasant side effects, but they usually go away within a month. Side effects may include: Hunger Fatigue Insomnia Nausea Headaches" I think benefit outweighs and only side effect I felt was nausea due to dark coffee.

Why not do a day at a time? Why 3 straight days of fasting? I never seen anyone recommend that. It sounds like a good way to pass out plus some people have physical jobs and need the energy from food to burn. I have to take my own health concerns and body into consideration because this definitely wouldn't work in my favor. But 24 hour fasts I do some time to time!

Family members go about 13-14 days Just water and fruit

Fruit is like pure sugar, that's not fasting

Gilead Sciences workinfrom Jul 5, 2022

Although you are correct with eating fruit is not fasting, to say it’s pure sugar is a but misleading. When people say “cut out sugar”, it should be in reference to added sugar (garbage processed food). The Global Burden of Disease is the largest study done all over the world to determine what people are dying of. In the US, shocker, it’s the Standard American Diet. The one thing they recommended to improve health, eat more fruit.

Maybe if you’re obese this makes sense, but 4 on / 3 off is way too fast-heavy for normal folk.

I went from 95kg to 80kg in 3 months.

Amazon day_2 Jul 5, 2022

If you were an out of shape 95kg, then yeah that probably qualifies as obese

Don't do this. You still fk up your stomach

Dematic CanaDiaN Jul 5, 2022

You don’t. Humans evolved to eat this way. Food was not regularly available everywhere. Humans went through fasting and feasting cycles.

It’s okay if you’re overweight but definitely not healthy long term because it will slow your metabolism overall. All you need to lose weight is a consistent calorie deficit. Even if you fast for three days if you pig out on your eating days then you’re basically just losing water weight and you’re at risk of bloating and putting that weight back on faster when you re-feed. Just tips to keep in mind for people wanting to try this

Okta RDKs48 Jul 5, 2022

Yessir. I started with a couple of hours and now I often do 2/3 days fast. However consistently I do a full fast once a week (just water) for the sake of discipline and seeking discomfort. Day to day I do intermittent fast (3/21 split) basically Omad. I do these while consistently training and working out cumulatively about 3/4 hours a day and getting at least 7 miles in everyday. Exercise wise I do yoga, running, martial arts, calisthenics and weightlifting. One thing I can say is that fasting has help unlock a lot of mental hurdles that have transferred into my fitness and day to day. Do what feels right for you and don’t listen to anyone else. Listen to your body and you’ll be fine. DM me if you wanna chat more
