Do companies care about gaps in resume? I was at a job for 3 months and left proactively before a layoff (non tech) to move to a big name retail company in HR. I am 7 months in and completely miserable with a toxic boss. The boss talks down to me all the time, micromanages me, and the culture is not what I was sold in the interview. I know the market is trash but I am getting denials right and left for jobs I am qualified for. Is my 3 month job coupled with my now current 7 month job hindering me? Wondering if I should remove the 3 month job? And, how do you answer why you are looking for a new job 7 months in because of a toxic boss? I have always heard not to talk down about a boss or company in an interview but it’s literally why I’m looking! Advice please!
Do not talk about why you want to leave your job. Talk about what is attractive to you about the new job and how it aligns with your career goals or whatever you like about that job. Never say you’re leaving a job because you don’t like it. Make it about all the good things you see in the potential new job.
Leave the 3 month off. Background check won’t show it if you don’t list it
I have two 4 month gaps in my resume (the most recent being due to layoffs). They don't really care if you don't care
Thank you all so much for the feedback. Taking the job off and hopefully I get some traction with new employers!!!

I’d leave that 3 month job off … leave a gap and say you took personal time to travel and visit family abroad.
Do you know if it will show up on a background check? That’s my entire dilemma. Would they not hire me if it showed up and said I took a break?
I’ve left a few jobs off my resume. I straight cancelled them because they were complete 💩 shows. They really only check what you add to the application and resume. Here’s a copy paste and a link and then a screenshot to help a bit. “While not in every company, most HR departments will go through your references and contact previous employers. There will not be any direct way for them to be aware of any jobs you omitted from your work history, so they will not be able to contact previous employers you haven't told them about. https://www.privateeyesbackgroundchecks.com/do-omitted-jobs-show-up-on-a-background-check/#:~:text=While%20not%20in%20every%20company,haven't%20told%20them%20about.
