I’ve had an Internship at Facebook Europe last year. I want to move to Switzerland for higher TC and eventually more savings. Can I mention to the recruiter that I am only interested in the Zurich office - asking this because of team matching. I’m not interested in Google London. Just want to move to Switz. Also, are there any nice front end positions there? I was a front end intern at FB, so I guess that would be the natural next step. Also is there a hiring freeze? Is it likely that in 1/2 year the freeze will be over? Also about the Munich office... does it have nice TC too?
You would limit your options if you did that. Be open to other locations then easily transfer after a year. Otherwise you might risk not getting past team matching
Yeah, ok. You’re right. So I interview with them, state my preferences, and if I don’t get matched with Zurich immediately, wait for a bit and then transfer. Provided I can transfer easily. Nice. Thanks
Are you European? Not easy for non European to get a Swiss working visa. UK or Germany might be easier
No, sadly
Increased TC in Zurich won't matter since everything there is double the price
Let's just say: Double the salary, double the rent, double the costs. Doesn't that mean double the savings also? And if savings is the focus in order to invest, does that mean you save in 10 years what you could save in 20 years? I am just saying, maybe I am missing something in the equation.
You forgot to calculate tax. Swiss tax is insanely high. You won't be able to save much after deducting COL. The lifestyle would be great though, so that's what you would profit.
Nowadays every 20 years old is insanely obsessed with TC and think that’s the only meaning of life.
Look. I don’t think so. I want to have more assets to provide myself and my family. And what’s wrong about wanting more TC? London was super dramatic, and I want to calm things up a little. Zurich seems like a quiet place that’s family friendly. Also if you don’t have anything smart to say, why did you comment here? To waste my time?
