I haven't been in the industry super long, but haven't had great luck - 3 month internship - 7 months at startup (was happy, everyone got laid off) - 7 months at medium size company (got demolished by COVID, was happy but my team eliminated) - 1y1m at MS (left because very unhappy) - soon about to hit a year as Meta, right as things seem to be falling apart, I've been happy but I see the writing on the wall I understand this would potentially have negatively stunted my growth and competency, but I worry getting the dreaded "job hopper" label. Is there anything I can really do beyond just a sob story to the few willing to not just throw me out without an interview? How badly punishing would it be for me to leave this place at a year, also? So 2 layoffs and msft role did not work out. Just tell the recruiter that you were impacted my layoffs. Recruiters know about layoffs because they are usually hit first. Some hiring managers will have bias against you but from my experience hms who have been around have seen layoffs and reorgs so they know. Basically just tell the truth about rifs, most are empathetic and sympathetic.
That makes sense, thanks
