I recently accepted a job as a Research Scientist at Gilead. Glassdoor has a lot of bad reviews regarding WLB but they’re 1-2 years old. Wondering if it’s still the same or anything has improved? #gileadsciences #Genentech #abbvie

Modi is a legend, will be remembered for centuries to come
That’s good to hear. Mine is also a lab based role.
Also, take with grain of salt. My friend loves Gilead. People who dislike their employer are more likely to leave reviews. They could have been terrible employees. And reviews during Covid also should be evaluated with that in mind.
How is the work culture in software development departments? Planning to apply.
I am celebrating 3 years this month and in my group I have good WLB. I work project management, a support group to the scientists. I build the labs, so there is pressure to deliver on time or early so the scientists can keep moving. I make use of the company shuttle, so my supervisor always makes sure I don't miss it. I don't mind the occasional crunch, as I am not constantly asked to work OT.
Depends on your manager in Research! WLB is based on your manager and projects. It’s not all equal across RS and SRS roles. I’d say there are a few awful directors in research.
Do you by any chance know base, RSU, bonus for a Senior Scientist I?
SRS1 salary is $165-175, RSU 45k/year more at sign on. Bonus 20%
I thought SRS1 salary would be higher? I’m RS at 165K with 2 YOE. The stocks and bonus seem about right.
I got a friend there. She says it’s 9-5 every day. Some times she does some data analysis at home but it doesn’t happen often. She goes to the lab every day.
What’s your friend’s level? Do you know if they are hybrid now?
