I have applied at GitHub for a senior software engineer role and they have put me through to the Technical Exercise stage. They have mentioned in the email it’s going to be a Data Storage API and it should take around 2 hrs with a time limit of 5 hrs. What exactly are they looking for in the Data storage API? Are they looking for how efficient they want the code to be? Are they looking for the solution to store data in AWS or in memory? Thanks YOE 8 #github #softwareengineer
Microsoft offer would have sign on.
No, it’s pretty straight forward. They dont allow you to use external dependencies. So work with what you can. It’s more of a judge on how you structure your service. How you commit and write code. How you run tests or code up edge cases. Like how you would in real world setting. (I got an offer from Github)
Congrats! What are the numbers like if you don’t mind me asking?
I only got an offer for SWE3. But also no official numbers yet but HR told Base : 150-160 Annual bonus : 10%-20% perf base Stock : 100k - 140k (annual/annual/quarter/quarter) (could push for more depending on how bad they want you) Sign On : 0 (but exceptions could happen) Refreshers : 10k - 16k (exceptional perf can go up to 32k) across 4 years I had a strong competing offer so they gave me all the possibilities (not sure if it is out of the band though). Still fairly low due to being in Zone 2.
