You do realise Associate in india is the designation college grads get after completing Goldman sachs training program? At 7 year ask minimum VP. And that salary is in line with a VP salary.
This is incorrect. College grads are Analyst. Minimum promotion criteria are 2+ YOE for associate and 4+ YOE for vp. These are best case scenarios and lateral hires aren’t promoted this quickly. OP’s friend will most likely be promoted in 1-2 years.
There are people who move to associate in a year or almost 2. OP has superb experience so should definitely negotiate for VP, even salary touches VP levels. I’m ex IB.
