Hey! Have an interview coming up for a VP (senior) level product role at GS and saw the compensation listed on levels is all over the place. If you’ve recently interviewed here, what did they tell you? I was told by a connection that “everything is negotiable,” but they hadn’t interviewed for a PM role so they weren’t really able to add more beyond that. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! #productmanager #product #pm
Make sure you asked about job security and strategy. Last I heard GS is exiting its consumer finance business aka Marcus
Yeah, the way I understand it, they’re planning to make cuts on the solutions side but keep Marcus, so it should be safe. Will definitely ask though!
Marcus is a done deal. Be VERY careful before signing up
Can you elaborate here or via DMs? I am between jobs, so it’s not like I’d be leaving something to go here. Planning to keep interviewing too, especially if there are layoffs coming
Don’t join! There’s no PM role here technically, just gloried Jira upkeepers! Product is Operations and Sales is the actual product! Be very careful before joining

PMs are a very low paid role in GS, far behind engineering. Platform Solutions is also on the way out. Most people are trying to abandon ship at the earliest possible opportunity. I’d strongly advise you to pursue a different path.
This is just one place I’m interviewing. Was laid off so no job at the moment. The role is not within platform solutions either.
don’t join marcus !
Can you share specifically which group within Marcus you’re looking at? Can provide insights.
People seem to be incorrectly combining the Marcus deposits business with other business lines that used to be in Consumer but have since split off into Platform Solutions. Marcus deposits (and maybe Marcus Invest) is part of Wealth Management and seems to still have investment, since the deposits are an important part of capitalization for the firm. Anything consumer oriented outside of that business is probably something to avoid.
Thank you. I’m interviewing for a role with deposits. Appreciate the thoughtful response!
By the way, if this is an experienced VP role I think totally fine to ask for 250-300.
Legacy tech stack , toxic managers, shit pay , long work hours and zero career growth for sdeor tech Developers are second class citizens here, please stay away
I recently applied to a product role at platforms .. I think the product will go away right? Why are they extending the team then?
