Goldman offered me VP(developer) role and big chunk of TC is yearly bonus. Do you always get full bonus from GS? What's the min and max ranges? Bonus 85k Dallas
Get more base instead of bonus, only first year bonus is guaranteed later it’s not ..!!
Good point, didn't ask recruiter if it's same for 4 years. But will I get full 85k 1st year? How much +/- bonus do they usually give 2nd year onwards?
For the first year ask whether it’s pro rated or not, essentially it’s given proportional to the months you worked, ask for full bonus instead. From 2nd year onwards nothing is guaranteed, and I mean nothing. If you are in Consumer org they give you an estimate to look for next year otherwise no such number is given for next year.
Full TC or gtfo
1. Ask for annualized bonus for year 1 (not pro rated) 2. GS base salary is low. Highest VP base is around $250K in NY AFAIK. However bonus can be 1~3 times the base or some percent of it….it all depends on the team you are in. 3. 2nd year bonus would be higher or at least the same unless you screw up/economy screws up/GS screws up/loose your rabbi 4. If you are ranked in bottom 5%, will be walked out during annual cycle with 0 bonus; but a package
Most important thing is to not lose your rabbi
Thank you!
I've never seen developer get more than 75% bonus. Usually it's much less.
Can I expect 50%(42k) in worst case
No you can expect 0% in worst case
If you are joining in CWM, first year would be fixed (in your case $85K (unless prorated, check your offer letter). You can negotiate that irrespective when you join in the year you want full bonus. From next year it will be 25-40% target bonus which will be based on GS, CWM and your performance. This year was really good and almost everyone got more than target. However it varies from 50-200%. I know few folks got 200% this year. If anyone’s performance is poor they can even get less but that means they will be kicked out very soon. Hope this help.
Thanks for the detailed response. I will definitely negotiate the 1st year full bonus. In your experience what's the worst case bonus have you seen at GS
I haven’t seen worst yet but I am just 3 years within the firm. Don’t worry about the worst, you should be fine unless you really really mess up. With so much attrition I don’t think firm is in a position to loose more folks.
I have seen 0% bonus and 0% hikes and had to pip myself those team members. Always play on the base at GS. Bonuses are very fickle here
What’s YOE You have ?
TC
Min: $0 Max: $500 million
😂😂😂😂
I'd retire the year I get max you mentioned, not too greedy 😉
