I have an offer from GS for a VP cloud infrastructure position as follow Base- 182k Annual bonus- 48k No sign on bonus No stock option Years of experience- 7years This is based in Dallas. Is it a fair deal? #offer #tech #negotiateoffer #negotiation
That is extremey good for Dallas. With that 200+ TC, you will live like a king. Congratulations!
That’s right :). I actually live in Dallas and yes 200k is a lot of money for Texas. Just wanted to make sure I’m not being shortchanged for the position cos usually, companies don’t give you the highest number for a position on the initial offer so I was wondering if to negotiate for more or not.
Well, you can always ask for more isnt’t it? But you would like to back that up with some facts!! Otherwise it would sound way bad. Do you have competing offers? Are you getting more than your previous job? All these go into account when you ask them to raise the numbers
Great offer for Dallas!
This seems like a very good offer. I doubt you will get more in Dallas.
Your* money will go a long way in Dallas, very few have that salary so great job and good luck to you
Great offer for Dallas
Very good offer. Congrats
wow this is awesome ! can you tell me how GS is giving offer in Dallas ? Isn't it in NY ?
They have an office there.
I guess that's like 300k in Seattle / bay area
Is it really 300k Seattle salary? I don't think expense scales that way. Sure, you rent is about $1000 cheaper, but that's still just 12k a month. An iphone costs the same in Seattle as in Dallas. Grocery might be cheaper, but that's maybe $100 a month difference. Where else are the savings coming from?
Water is like 5 bucks a month in Texas, Seattle is over 100 a month (highest in the country). I pay almost 150 a month for water. Biggest diff is honestly cost of a house, you can still get a decent single family house easily for 300k somewhere in Plano or McKinney next to good schools. If you want to get that in Seattle it’s easily going to be over twice the cost.
I would ask a bit more for Dallas is VP same as like Tech Lead? Or higher for Goldman.
Isn’t VP at Goldman Sachs and entry level position... with 7 YOE it’s going back to square one ..
No. VP is a senior role at GS I think. Analyst and associate are entry level.
My bad.. then probably good .. however 180k in Austin may be lowball...
