Software Engineers, what do you think of resumes that have been designed to look good (i.e. colored header, two column format, etc)? I added two random images I found on Google.
I would say that once you get past the recruiter your resume doesn’t matter.
As long as your resume is not longer than 1 page I don't really care. But one things for sure, like Google said, never put your picture on resume.
Deedy resume is usually an insta-phone screen
both of these don't look good to me
Black and white, single column, no special formatting, font size 11-13 and never any pictures of any kind. If you can’t recreate the resume using a plain text editor, you probably over-formatted it.
Eg. I personally think this one is a little odd (I would right align the dates and keep consistent formatting and add line separators between sections etc, but this is pretty close to how I expect good resumes to look)
These are crap. You wanna be a coder or a fashion designer ?
I think second resume would have very high chances of being hired in tech

Never put your picture on a resume. That’s asking for discrimination of all kinds. At least make them work for it lol. Also in the top third of the page, say anything you want them to know because most people don’t read the whole thing attentively.
What if you're insanely good looking?
If you're too good looking they might be envious and not consider you... Unless you're a woman
