What companies in Seattle have a good management culture? I'm an engineering manager looking for a new company.
All I can say is that Amazon should be on your “does not” list.
I have heard enough stories from Amazon that I was already turned off.
I like our management. Just don't join the hardware division.
I would be looking for software teams so that is easy enough.
Yeah what I meant was, dont join the software teams which are in the hardware platform division (also known as BIG-IP)
I hear amzn is a good place to be a manager just not an ic?
Bingo
Amazon is a great place to be a manager. It is a good place to be an IC if you have a good manager. Unfortunately, not all the managers are so great. 😭
Zymergen has an office in Seattle. I mostly like the management. Especially when given the chaos of having to be good at management and managing a fast growing company. Don't be fooled by biotech companies. They have large software teams and a large need for swe. You don't necessarily need a background in bio but it can certainly help.
