Google - SWE, infrastructure vs tools and infrastructure

On Google career page, I see these two different job postings. As I understand, software, tools and infrastructure (seti) is more involved with automation and testing tool development. Is it same as software engineer, infrastructure? Software engineer, infrastructure job description says it is to build the distributed platform by using large scale storage systems. It does not mention automation testing unlike seti. The job title sounds like they are same but just wanted to know if they are different.

Systems Infra != SETI SI is the more glamorous one with a higher bar. Whether it’s more interesting is a personal flavoring based on the problems you enjoy solving.

Oh, thanks. That's good to know.

So the software engineer, infrastructure will have the same hiring bar as the general SWE, right?

SETI=SDET=career suicide

For now I'm considering the software engineer, infrastructure if it is different from SETI.

Software Engineer, Infrastructure is in the regular SWE ladder. Exactly same hiring process as any other SWE and you can easily move out of Infrastructure if you want. SETI is a different job ladder.

SWE, Infra is exactly same as SWE. It's just a made up title for careers page (nothing like it exist internal). Think of something like "SWE, Gmail" which is of course saying regular SWE who just happens to work for Gmail. However SETI is different role & ladder. Normally SWE role is preferred more than SETI by most.

Thanks for the answer. Now I can clearly see the difference.
