1 vs 5 Million - no lifestyle change
Currently L5 at Google with 5 years of experience. Got an offer for an interesting team at snowflake but the numbers are lower than expected (according to levels.fyi). I’m wondering if I’m getting low-balled with the IC3 Snowflake offer (probably due to my low YoE)? Also curious about general thoughts on going from Google to Snowflake.
Snowflake stock is very volatile and overweighted. i would discount it by 40% when comparing compensation
I see your point about the volatility but I didn’t realize it was overvalued. What makes you say that?
How important are the Google perks like free amazing food and offices and barista etc
That's nothing guys, go where you get paid more and not the perks. I used to value these perks but after a month, you get fed up with the same kind of food every day, as they say, it's a premium only if you get once a while. If you get really good food etc everyday, it's just normal.
But if you cook or need to pay 15-20) every day for every fucking meal or drink - it’s atleast 100$ worth of food and perks u get ever day
They have quarterly reviews.
Also, no 401K match. Take that into account
Snow flake does nt offer many benefits that Google offers.
They lowballed you big time. I wouldn’t leave for anything below 550 considering they have worse benefits, worse WLB, volatile and overvalued stock, quarterly reviews.
Is 550 possible for IC3 and snowflake? I don’t think I’ve seen an offer that high. Also I’ve seen multiple people comment on the overvalued stock which is interesting. I though it still had room to grow since it’s down ~30% from its all time high
30% below ATH has nothing to do with room to grow. Room to grow depends on the core business, and not what the past ATH was.
Yeah not worth the move
Lol DO NOT join right now -
why so? can you please elaborate?
We just had the biggest re-org in the companies history. This years rewards were pretty much nothing. People are stressed! Our core product is great and still loved by customers. Every other feature is a bolt on and in a defensive position - not mention literally none of it is GA and some of them have been in dev for over 2 years. If you HAVE TO join, if you have other options go there. The core product has saturated the market here, everything else kind of sucks and is created purely because of defense.
You’re making a move for less than 10% bump? lol I wouldn’t make this move if I were you especially because you have low yoe for an IC3. You’ll be roasted in the quarterly reviews if you don’t live up to the expectations. Something to keep in mind is that snowflake has non-existent employee perks account that into your TC calculations
Heard they have bad mandatory PIP.
40k after tax is 🥜
That's before tax, not after tax
an extra ~26k is peanuts to you? that’s more than an after tax yearly bonus for most
