This is BS.
What a shitty article. They're not forcing people to use any of the perks...
But you're still indirectly paying for them
No you are, thank you for using Google search and YouTube
Nobody has had access to the complete perks package for 2+ years and they have no problem retaining 140k employees soooo
Haha the guy in the article wants to get a higher salary instead of in office perks and even asked his manager about it. Epic!
Don’t complain if you don’t have the self control to leave your office. Many other companies expect you to work bs hours and don’t provide anywhere near the perks that you get at the companies mentioned here. Get a life.
Sounds like he was forced to use the perks? Am I reading this right? lol
Yes or he wants to be paid back for food at home
Lol every so often these articles come up to explain the "dark side"of Google and people love it because they can point to it and say "see, they have these perks for a reason!" Truth is corp work sucks most of the time no matter where you are, but it's better to have top pay and perks than not.
I don't think there is some nefarious Google plot to get people to work more. They could just demand people work more and give them more work if that is what they wanted to do. No need for free dinner and stuff.... It is annoying that they try to convince you that it is awesome to be in the office rather than just WFH in some location that is not SF Bay or NYC.
No shit sherlocl

Just work from home. Problem solved
👆 I've been saying this since before the pandemic. Googlers would still argue with me that they preferred free tacos to working at home.
Yeah, if Google will let you...
