What is the typical compensation package of a Google Cloud Engineer (also known as Customer Engineer) @L6?
Don’t do it! Most of the sales team are not making their numbers, which mean you won’t get your bonus. The org is disjointed and fucked up. Unless you really hate your current job, and don’t mind not getting your bonus, don’t come to Google as CE
Wow!
Wow is right. When I was about to accept the offer, recruiter told me that almost everyone were going over their quotas. Total BS! Last 2 quarters I got only ~60% of my bonus. Not to mention GCP is always the 3rd option for customers, so we are fighting for scraps
This is totally unexpected!
Hey man at the end of the day it’s your decision. I’m just giving you the real scenario. I wish someone told me that when I was about to accept. Even though my base is higher than my previous job, I like $$ and certainly want 100% bonus every quarter
No, thank you for your comment. Moneys are important but I still didn't get an offer. If I will, I'll take into account the fact that the bonus may be around 60% instead of 100%
BTW, is it correct to say that the L6 is a good level for a new hire?
It seems for CEs L5-6 are where they want to be
What do you mean?
That most CEs get hired as L5 or L6.
Had 3 friends who went to Google as CEs from AWS. 2 came back and the third moved to another group in proper Google. Their words, not mine, but GCP is totally different than rest of Google. And by different I mean it's far worse.
Agree 100%. Google is an Engineer-minded company. They cater to the employees. Google (and its caveman/woman employees) does not care about enterprise customers at all.
What's comp like for CE? Any L4/5 here who can share their TC please?
I would expect about $700k in total annual compensation for L6
That sounds a lot for L4/5. Any Googler who can share here?
Troll comment
What interview questions they ask
Really depends on your incoming pay and competing offers
Really? I thought there is a kind of salary range. Is it correct to say that L6 is a good level for a new hire?
Yes L6 is really good. They start CE on inside as L3, tops out at L6.
