Google Compensation

I cleared the Google HC recently and am trying to discuss numbers with the recruiter. I have 4 other offers and TC of the highest one is 210k, this was the initial offer and I have asked for 235k. I'm thinking to ask Google for around 230k as I will be happy with that number or should I ask for a bit more as the recruiter might try to lower the number I ask? Google L3 and 2.8 YOE. Help.

Ask for 235K. Stay consistent across all companies and then see what their offers are. Counter with your closing number, for your top preferred company.

Ask for 240. They will say no maybe who knows.

Do you think L3 is correct given your Yoe ??

MathWorks thrtlvlmdt OP Mar 13, 2019

I don't think it's common for Google to give L4 for outside hires given my YOE. I'm not worried about this for now as I like the team I'm matched with and the work I'd be doing interests me.

Wow.. even 2.8 yoe?

Never give a number, and never reveal the comp of your other offers. Simply ask for a competitive offer for your skill level. If it's lower than you want, only then should you name any numbers and ask for a specific amount. This is negotiation 101. Search Blind for similar posts. L3 with 2 YOE can get $245k. With your extra YOE, it could be more and L4 is possible already with 2 YOE.

G will give a low-ball if you don't name a number, so you're going to end up giving a number no matter what

^This!

L3 is kind of lowball so try to find out what the top of the range is for that level. I know people who have L5 offers with 6.5 yoe. So L4 at 2.8 should be possible.
