(Google) Does location of onsite interview matter?

I'm not local to Bay area. Do you folks see any advantage/disadvantage in scheduling the onsite in Mountain View vs other location such as Google office in Chicago?

I dunno she just said less people get offers. Could be team matching. I didn't accept partially because I didn't get a position at my preferred location

Google tries very hard to make it uniform some of my friends in India were interviewed through video from folks in the us. But said again there are of course biases, at least for a long time google india had a lot of competitive programmers so their questions tended to be more algorithmic rather than leetcode type, but this is changing now. At the end of the day you cant control this, you just have to prepare so well in all different aspects that you clear the interview no matter what

HQ is always better than the satellite locations as you have more opportunities there, so more of a chance to get team matched.

This is just for the interview.. job location can be anything, as per the recruiter.

I don’t think so. My recruiter assigned my interview at Sunnyvale, but 4 out of 5 interviewers were on video call.
