I got through the manager phone interview with FitBit team for sensor validation role and is waiting for the on-site date. Talked to my recruiter yesterday and he will try to expedite the date, only to found out online that Google is having 2 weeks freeze. I also seen couple of new HW job listings for FitBit last week. Does anyone have insight if freeze will impact HW? Also, I would love to hear some interview tips for this type of role. Many thanks. TC: $99k YOE: 4.5 #interview #sensor
What was your offer?
Oh sorry if I was not clear, not yet to the offer stage, just waiting on the on-site interview date. I just want to know if anyone in HW role would know if everything freezes hiring.
I am about to compete my fifth interview for a different eng role for Fitbit as well. I really hope they can provide an offer after the two weeks is up
Have you heard any updates from your recruiter? I was also interviewing for a role with Fitbit (marketing) and my recruiter has not responded to my requests for updates.
I actually got my on-site dates just this week. But the recruiter reached out to me early July and had my phone interview two weeks ago. I'm not sure about marketing department but the engineering one seems to move pretty quickly; about a week between updates. Hopefully someone can help you out more with info.
Soon to be Killed by Google
Just want to update the folks who took time to reply to my original post. Did my last on-site interview yesterday and just got a rejection email today. It stinks a bit since that mean the team probably decided I was a no hire. Not sure how to sort out my failure yet since I really like the role and thought I did well. This will be the last time I dwell on this rejection. Tomorrow I will pick myself up, try again and see you all next year 😆
was the position closed or they just rejected you personally?
I'm not too sure, have not reply to the recruiter email yet since I'm still working out what to write. He says something to the effects of everyone enjoys the conversation with me but they decided to look for candidates that align closer to business needs. Sounds like I just don't make it 🤷
Sorry to hear that OP. Better things are meant for you, you’re right not to dwell on it.
Thank you for the sentiment. Really appreciate the blind community in times like these!

How many books do you usually read in a year?
It appears to be corp-wide. Week 1 is already done. General idea is that headcount growth is being cut, so hiring managers don't know of they'll lose their open positions or not yet. Give it another week or two and it should be all worked out and recruiter will be able to tell you if that position is still available and if not if there's something else you'd be good for.
Thank you for the reply. I enjoy studying up for the role these past few days since the technology is pretty relevant to my undergrad degree (not so much the current job though) so it's a little disappointing. At least, hope I can get some interviewing practice in even if career with FitBit doesn't pan out rn.
