Google India vs Deshaw India

Currently working at Deshaw India < 1 year completed. Current Compensation (After appraisal process): Expected TC at year-end: 35 Base: 27.5 Year-End Expected Bonus: 5 Long term Guaranteed Bonus: 2.5 Got an offer from Google (Google Pay Team) TC: 30 lakhs Base: 16.8 Bonus: 2.4 Joining Bonus: 1.5 Stocks: 50000$/4 Years The HR is lowballing so much, and is not ready to negotiate a single bit. On top of it I would have to give back 2 Lakhs to DEShaw due to joining bonus t&c, Which makes the net difference to approximately 7 Lakhs Honestly Im looking for a change, due to the hectic and monotonic workload in DEShaw. What ladder and level? Not very familiar with the Indian salary comps but generally speaking including RSUs one expects a salary bump vs a drop coming into Google. Atleast Google should pay that 2 lakhs, you shouldn’t need to pay that out of pocket. Depends on how you see the Google role, team culture etc. I know GPay is a big focus as is India. But 20 percent pay cut not sure....can’t you just show your current offer and say you expect them to match that?

Its for L3 Level. I already sent them my current offer letter, payslips and everything, but they are saying it will take time, and we have to close this position now

Stay with DE Shaw, reject the offer. Offer is valid for a year I guess. Thing is you do not have a lot of negotiating power given <1 year. Add a year more and see the tc jump. Negotiate for a better team. Ask for Google search team. By switching early you are not becoming a better engineer. What's your LC count? How was the interview?

The offer came again right now with the same compensation, I got the offer 5-6 months ago. I did competitive coding mainly, LC count will be around 200, but solved the entire interviewbit. Interviews were 2 LC Hard, 2 LC Medium

@ulwo67 what was your level of cp ?? I have just started cp 3-4 month back , and having offer from OCI , so I am confused now , should i try for Google offcampus or not. Because total tc at google will be lower than oci for freshers.

Keep interviewing. If you cleared google now, you can do it later. Join google when you have a family and need to spend time with them. When you reject the google offer, the HR will herself increase the amount

Does google offer really adds up to 30? It gives 36% stocks in first year. Is your calculations based on 25%? Also, for calculations I divide joining bonus into 4 year tc and not just first year.

Actually, the HR said that it would be 9.12 Lakhs INR (50000$ Total Equity) which makes it 25%.

Like they break their colleges in tiers. Generally For Tier 1 (All the Old IITs) 25 Base, 2 Joining, 4-6 Bonus, 10 lakhs long term incentive over 4 years

I would recommend that you neogiate again and join Google. I know many people who came from D E Shaw and are very happy here. The refreshers are amazing for strong candidates and within no time your TC would jump. If you join early move to L4 would be quicker. G Pay is a good team to work for.. lots of new projects and much more independence than other teams both work and ownership wise...

The problem over here is, when I try to negotiate the HR says we are doing our best but no progress, and we have 20 other candidates who are ready to accept this position at this compensation. Given that I may get a promotion over here in a year or a year and a half, I will try switching then.
