Interviewed for L5 but got mixed feedback bu that am very close to L5. The recruiter dint actually share which round was bad but they mentioned something around optimized solution so I am assuming its one of the coding rounds. I think both my sys design went well but you never know. Recruiter also mentioned that there aren’t many roles open so TM would take time and it’s possible that I might need to redo one of the interview (I dont know how that works). They are also going on an extended leave and will probably put something on my packet so that someone else can follow up. How do I keep the ball rolling? Should I contact someone else within the company..I have a few friends who work at google but all swe. May be I am rejected or may be I am reading too much they would have said i dint pass if there weren’t hope. I am too desperate for this. I want to leave my current role but I am not getting calls. I have been trying really hard since a few months but there is freeze almost everywhere. TC- depressed Yoe- more depressed 😔 #tech #google
I didn't know we're still hiring after all this shit.
I hope the shit at G is over…
Not really, still unpacking in some countries
Also with you OP on depression part
Very few openings (only GCP has couple positions) right now for < L6. I’m in l4 team match since Oct
Can you share your prep strategies
I never stop doing leetcode…I do atleast 3 problems a week when I am not preparing which helps me be in touch and quickly change gears when I am preparing…for system design…may be watch 1-2 youtube videos just so you know how to structure your interview but to be honest why would I trust some random youtuber…I dont think investing a lot of time in watching youtube videos or random online courses is worth it…
Good luck with TM. I've been waiting for TM since December, with no real updates from RC.
“The recruiter mentioned about optimizing solutions …. “ is the standard feedback recruiters give. I wouldn’t think too much into it , you failed and is ok , keep studying
Yep there is nothing wrong with failing…but 9 out of 10 times you’ll get team decided to move forward with another candidate…they dont have anything to loose if they tell me I am not selected…atleast thats what has been my experience with other big techs
No it’s not. If you do well, Google recruiters will say so. They can even decide if your packet is good enough to send to HC. Signal from recruiters is far more reliable than how you feel about your interviews. I thought I bombed one interview, but the recruiter said I did well compared to other candidates given the same question.
Why are you looking to move from Meta
Did you get hiring committee approval? If yes, then it’s typically valid for one year. There’s not many openings now, and layoff is still ongoing outside of US, so that validity gives you more time until there’s new headcount. If they haven’t mentioned HC approval, you should chase on that, it blocks extra interview and potentially TM because you are borderline (unclear if you can match for L4 or L5). All the best!
No, they wanted to do TM before HC.
Is it L5 TM? If yes, my guess is your packet needs a team match to increase the chance of passing HC at L5, another option is to send to HC without a match and get L4 if you pass. I would suggest you talk to your recruiter about options. To be frank, once you get HC approval, you can apply to any posting and kickstart TM without relying on the recruiter, but before that, the recruiter can drop your packet anytime if they aren’t confident about your chance.
Google is on a hiring freeze so don’t get your hopes up
Is google still hiring?
