I am invited to Google on-site interview. I did my phone interview using Javascript, since I am more comfortable with. In the handbook the recruiter gave me it mentioned they prefer C++, Java, Python, Go or C. Is JS ok or I should practice one of the above? TC: 190K #Google #interview
Let the recruiter know and they will let interviewer know.
Isn’t JavaScript missing some important data structures from it’s standard library like heaps and queues? How do you deal with that, just code them up in addition to whatever the question is actually testing? Seems like an unnecessary handicap.
Probably the OP didn’t start to LC yet 😂
Heap is the only one is missing.
arrays can be used as queues via shift() and unshift(), but yeah no priority queue
Time complexity of shift and unshift are O(n) tho
Sounds like it would be worth your time to learn Python and/or Go regardless of whether or not you get the job at Google. Having only one language just sorta screams "lack of experience" to me when I look at a resume.
Thanks for the advice. I do code ruby, python, java and a bit of c++. But it is matter of comfort for the interview
Python
Go with your most familiar language. If you need something missing from the stdlib use a sensible fictional interface 'new PriorityQueue()' and ask if you should implement (to which they will answer "no")
What about kobol tho?
Nah, most prestigious language for interviews Brainf*ck and Chicken
