How easy is it getting an L1 visa at Google, assuming you already have the offer from a team? Also what is the compensation like for L1 employees at the MTV office? I came across a post that said only L5 and above can move on an internal transfer. Is that true? Also, any advantages of an MS in US over an L1? #google
Advantages of MS: You have options when you're choosing an employer + the ability to negotiate. Higher probability to get an H1B post MS (assuming you have an L1 and no masters degree).
TC / GTFO first?
I hope someone from Google answers this question. I too am interested to know what's the scene of L1 transfer in Google. If it is allowed only after L5, I would rather stick to Amazon.
It's not true that you need to be L5 to transfer on an L1. Every level can transfer on an L1. In terms of your compensation - your base will be adjusted based on the new location but your stocks will not. You will need to want for the usual new year refresher to get grants in proportion to the new location.

Women, help me understand why this is inspirational
The advantage of MS in US is having about $150k less in savings, a student loan of anywhere from $30k to $90k and joining Google a level lower that what you would probably be if you were to join out of college.
Not true, new bachelor in India join as L3 where as after MS you can join at L4. In terms of money yes you are right. There is another advantage of have extra quota in H1B lottery if you do MS.
No, you don't join as an L4 with a masters. L4 is for PhD. If people with masters joined as L4, they had work ex and they would have joined as L4 even in India.
